About the author:
My name is Xavier Koontz Miller. I’m a small town Vermont kid, who, prior to this journey, hasn’t been west of Colorado, or to any other country except Canada. Instead of bankrupting myself my first year of college and having debt for an education I don’t know what to do with yet, I decided to postpone my acceptance to the University of Vermont to take a year off to travel. When people asked where, the strikingly beautiful Lord of the Rings trilogy came back to me, and also one of my friends Nils Koons, formerly of the Craftsbury Green Racing Project, from Dunedin. And so I started telling people I was going to New Zealand, before I had a plan, before I knew how it would work or before I even had money, I had a destination.
